The Bayon Temple, a richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia, is renowned for its grand and serene stone faces. These intricately carved faces depict Avalokiteshvara or possibly a combination of King Jayavarman VII’s face with a deity. The temple features 216 smiling faces, reflecting the grandeur and artistry of the Khmer Empire. Built in the late 12th century, it is a central monument in the ancient city of Angkor Thom.
