This black and white photo captures the Bridge of Sighs, an iconic structure in Venice, Italy. The bridge connects the Doge's Palace to the adjacent prison and is a fine example of Baroque architecture. Gondolas gently glide beneath, adding to the romantic atmosphere typical of Venice's winding canals. The bridge earned its name from the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their last view of beautiful Venice through the window before their imprisonment.
